In the Araku Valley of Andhra Pradesh, Ayekart collaborated with three Farmer Producer Organizations to address challenges faced by coffee farmers.
Ayekart is dedicated to transforming the agricultural landscape and empowering farmers across India.
Meet Buridi Lathasree, a woman from Araku, Andhra Pradesh. She is very hardworking as she manages her coffee farms and her household. Lathaβs primary source of income is coffee bean farming. However, due to outdated farming methods and limited awareness of the market, Latha and the farmers in the region were generating only a limited income.
Our intervention has helped Latha and other farmers increase their income potential by 2x. The market price for coffee cherry beans is around βΉ150, whereas the rate for dry cherry beans in the market is around βΉ300. In the process, we also created demand for the coffee beans from corporate buyers and established market linkages for their coffee beans.
At Araku, we recently distributed baby pulper machines and tarpaulins to tribal farmers in collaboration with CCL.
