From helping in sourcing the good quality of seeds to providing them with market linkage, Ayekart is committed to empowering FPOs and traditional businesses. In Andhra Pradesh our team is enabling farmers by supporting FPOs in cashew sapling distribution.

The region of East Godavari in India is known for its rich cultural heritage and the cultivation of cashews, coffee, sago, and other crops. Cashew is a significant source of income for many households in this region.

However, traditionally small farmers have faced a number of challenges with this crop, ranging from old saplings to low yields as well as exploitation by middlemen. Our team has been working in this region to support FPOs and their member farmers to address their challenges and improve their livelihoods.

We collaborated with local nurseries and distributed high-yielding cashew saplings. We also introduced and provided training across multiple techniques for drying, sorting, and grading the cashews, which reduced post-harvest losses and improved the quality of the produce. We also helped create direct market linkages for these FPOs.
